If these walls could talk, they’d tell you how becoming Miami’s #1 LGBTQ+ bar and restaurant was no small feat.

hard to share a confined space for a set period with people one hasnt met. If I ever learn more about you guys, or meet you on a cruise, perhaps a sailing trip could be an option, if we get on well. In the summer there is an abundance of speed boats to mega yachts moored there in the daytime but few stay overnight as a few miles further along the coast is Portals Nous, one of the finest marinas (Punta Portals) in Europe with great restaurants and bars on the waterside. El Mago is a small nudist / gay area in the centre of the bay and Portals Vells is a busier larger beach slightly further over. The last two are in a sheltered bay where you can moor up safely overnight with good beach bars serving good food. or better still head over to the Balearics too, Majorca has Cala Ratjada, Las Rapitas, Es Trenc, El Mago and Portals Vells. head towards Valencia and there is a long stretch of nature reserve beach not far outside of the City. I found a new beach a few weeks ago, Sitges, Spain There's quite a mix of people so you should not feel out of place.Īlso as an option a little north is the Fountainbleu Hotel & Eden Roc Hotel.lots of fun on Miami beach, close to South Beach - I've stayed at both & enjoyed it alot! You sort of hope to see Dean Martin sing in the lobbies!

So a lazy daya t the beach w/ cocktails in the afternoon & a dinner on Ocean Avenue.there is also Vizcaya ( afabooo mansion once owned by James Deeering)) and Coral Gables.I'm not a club type of guy at this point so I don't know about that, I also enjoy the European & Cuban influence - but 5 days will satisfy your curiosity, tempt you some and perhaps feed your soul. Years ago my grandparents spent winters in Miami Beach / South BEach.I'm in my mid 50's and still go down from time to time.the architecture is great & there are some interesting & fun restaurants. Gay friendly and in the heart of everything.ġ2th Street is considered the gay beach, and drinks and a drag show at The Palace right on 12th & Ocean is always fun. If you decide not to rent a place, I recommend Lords on South Beach. more like what you would expect in Los Angeles being you are from LA. If dining is important to you, the restaurant selection, variety, and quality are far superior in South Beach. Also you can expect things to be more expensive in South Beach, and this is partly because it's more "world class" and attracts people for all over the world. I enjoy both, but there is an exotic vibe and excitement in South Beach that Lauderdale definitely lacks. I live smack between South Beach and Lauderdale (15-20 minutes to get to either) and go to both depending on my mood and what friends I'm meeting. Lauderdale if that means anything to you. There is nothing like South Beach, and it's far more scenic and beautiful than Ft. In South Beach you will see more of the young and beautiful set (not a bad thing), but this is not to say you can't have a great time there. Lauderdale definitely caters to a more seasoned gay clientele. It's only 45 minutes north of Miami and then maybe just rent a car for the day and explore Miami and South Beach.įt. Lauderdale instead as it has a lot more gay guest houses/hotels, bars, etc. You're only staying for 5 nights and extremely convenience if you are getting off a ship at the port of Miami.

Ocean Blvd has a active nightlife (mostly straight) with lots of restaurants and the gay beach in near 12th Street and Ocean. Yes, it has a lot of young beautiful people, but you will also find a lot of Europeans and South American and regular American tourist too so I don't think you'd feel too out of place. Miami and South Beach has a lot of see and do especially if you haven't been there before. We’re not into the bar/club scene anymore. We are avid beach lovers, like sightseeing and good restaurants. Not having been there before, I am unsure. My hubby thinks South Beach is really for younger people, not people our age. We’re thinking of renting a condo on Ocean Ave. My husband and I, 62 and 60 respectively, want to spend 5 days in South Beach Florida after our cruise.
